Miss Lava - Doom Machine

It's time to introduce you to Portugal's best kept secret in the stoner rock genre, Lisbon-based quartet Miss Lava. With a career spanning over ten years, Miss Lava now return with their fourth full-length album "Doom Machine" and if you're not familiar with the band yet I urge you to pick up previous albums "Red Supergiant" and "Blues For The Dangerous Miles".
Shrouded in a deep emotional load divided between feelings of loss and joy. "Doom Machine" is their best effort to date and sees the four-piece perfectly balancing heavy, fuzzy and infectious riffs with psychedelic and shamanic ambiances. Heavy hitters like opener "The Fourth Dimension"  and "Sleepy Warm" contrast nicely with more laid-back and hazy tunes like "Brotherhood of Eternal Love" and the instrumentals "Karma" and "Magma". The album track "Doom Machine" is a song that perfectly embodies the overall vibe of the album, starting with some groovy riffs that recall a more stoner-driven Alice In Chains then mid-way it slowly drifts to an enthralling psych rock jam and towards the end picks up the pace again.
"Doom Machine" is a great album that warrants multiple spins and hopefully will put this Lisbon group in the international stoner rock radar.
